Maritime and Logistics Practician Achmad Ridwan Is Also a Productive Book Writer

Any parties, business practicians and observers in particular and the community and general, have shown their efforts to improve the performance of trade, maritime affairs and logistics within the country. This is in a bid to boost competitiveness and national economic growth. Among them is Dr.Drs. Achmad Ridwan Tentowi.S.H.M.H, a very well-known port, logistics, and maritime patrician and observer.

 

Apart from being a business practitioner, an academician and a postgraduate lecturer at STIP (Institute of Shipping), Achmad Ridwan Tentowi is now so active in writing books.

 

A number of books delivering thoughts and analysis based on based factual data relating trade issues, port law and maritime politics have been launched. Even since 2016, Ridwan born in Bandung, West Java in 1959, has often written in various international journals.

 

The book entitled ‘Politik Hukum Tata Kelola Kepelabuhanan Nasional, Studi Kasus Dwelling Time di Tanjung Priok-Jakarta” (Legal Politics on National Port Management: Case Study of Dwelling Time in Tanjung Priok-Jakarta) is his first book published in 2016, with his co-writers  of Dr. T Subarsyah Sumadikara S.H, and Roely Panggabean S.H.MH

 

In this 367-pages book and prepared for 4 years (since 2012), the author would like to honestly describe that references to Port Law in Indonesia are still very minimal. So that the book is presented to present a legal study of ports. The writer especially highlights the Legal Politics of Dwelling Time.

 

As is the reports have said, the Dwelling Time has been becoming top issue since in 2012. This has inspired Ridwan to write it completely and comprehensively in a book. This book then has become a reference for designing Port Law

 

Then, in 2020, Achmad Ridwan Tentowi, again wrote another book the book ‘Kerugian Badan Usaha Pelabuhan Akibat Re-Ekspor Yang Tidak Dilaksanakan’ – Studi Kasus Daging Impor Ilegal di Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (Loss of Port Business Entities Due to Unimplemented Re-Exports’ – Case Study of Illegal Imported Meat at Tanjung Priok Port).

 

The 165-pages book is intended to provide enlightenment and hope in the future so that there will be concrete steps in the form of a legal umbrella that can take firm action against re-exports that have not been carried out, both criminally and civilly.

 

The author is of the view that the purpose of the formation of the legal umbrella is to achieve certainty, order and justice in re-export activities.

 

And, the latest is a book entitled ‘Akselerasi Perjanjian Fasilitas Perdagangan Dengan Politik Hukum Kepelabuhanan’ – Sebuah Pengantar Pembangunan Hukum Kemaritiman di Era Tatanan Hidup Baru atau New Normal (Acceleration of Trade Facility Agreements with Port Law Politics’ – An Introduction to the Development of Maritime Law in the New Normal)

 

The 171-pages book, published in August 2022, contains the substance of how to deal with the New Normal (Post-Covid-19) pandemic related to economic and trade activities, logistics, transportation, ports and other sectors.

 

Through this book, Achmad Ridwan, who is also a Maritime Observer from Indonesia Maritime, Transportation and Logistics Watch (IMLOW), comprehensively reviews how the issues of port fares, logistics digitization, online Delivery Order (DO) and the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW), and National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE). In addition the books also encourage elements of the Port Authority (OP) in the main ports that are cultivated (commercial) to ensure the smooth flow of goods and logistics at the Port in accordance with their responsibilities mandated by law.

 

The book also highlights matters related to trade, the use of trade facilities, including cross-border cooperation between various countries by implementing the provisions under the Trade Facilitation Agreement (FTA) of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
